BIOART LABORATORIES

FOUNDATION

BioArt Laboratories Foundation is a multidisciplinary international operating non profit organisation with a focus on top-talents. We attract designers, technicians, students, artists, businesses, academics, and others who are interested in the crossover between science, nature, technology, and creativity. By doing so, we consolidate a potent human capital pool for Eindhoven and its region.

Every year we welcome researchers, bio-professionals, and students to work on innovative projects. The changing population ensures that the laboratory can act as the breeding space for the crossover innovation it stands for.

BioArt Laboratories was founded in 2011 bij Jalila Essaïdi. By 2014, it successfully established a physical foothold in Eindhoven, Noord Brabant in the Netherlands.

Our approach

In a world with increased interest for biotechnology and life sciences, Jalila Essaïdi, pioneer, artist and entrepreneur, developed a bulletproof skin based on spider silk. She founded BioArt Laboratories to enable future talents to develop, making use of her experience and contacts.

The approach of BioArt Laboratories as an organisation functions as a catalyst for crossover innovations. It offers access to a laboratory, biomaterials, expertise and a network of experts. We provide  an inspiring and open atmosphere that allows for serendipity and creativity to encourage and facilitate entrepreneurship.

Through public events such as expert talks, experiments, exhibitions and awards we allow emerging talents to reflect and explore the relevance and acceptance of their ideas in an evolving field of biotechnology and life sciences.

BioArt Laboratories’ global network encompasses universities, research centres and specialised laboratories. With its location in Eindhoven, an area of high-tech and design in the heart of the Netherlands, surrounded by bio-based and agro-food industries, the creation of crossover talents, new biomaterials and start-ups is never far away.

Organisation

Currently, BioArt Laboratories has a team of enthusiastic people, all with a different background and expertise which has allowed us to grow rapidly.

The Board of BioArt Laboratories foundation is governed by the Supervisory Board. BioArt Laboratories endorses the Governance Code Cultuur, Code Diversiteit & Inclusie and the Fair Practice Code.

The Advisory Board supports BioArt Laboratories and is an international network of experts. Depending on their academic backgrounds, they provide BioArt Laboratories with solicited and unsolicited advice on both content and organisation.
