The new year is the time for evaluating the systems that have shaped our world. Gym memberships have been bought and diets have begun, but what efforts are we making to exercise our conscience, and discipline our collective consumptive nature? We want to discuss the new systems, values, norms, and behaviors that we will have to introduce to keep our actions in line with our resolutions.
To welcome the New Year of 2022, a Fire Pit Debate will be hosted by BioArt Laboratories with Philosopher Dr. Landeweerd (Radboud University), where he will introduce the framework and statements regarding New Year’s resolutions. This Fire Pit Debate will be presented as a window of reflection, where we are going to analyze what systems, tools, and infrastructures are shaping our relationships with nature today.
A more biocentric worldview can change our position for us as so-called autonomous and free individuals. Does an improved relationship with nature automatically mean a loss of autonomy and freedom, just because some actions are no longer ethical? Or will new kinds of symbiotic relationships – where self-conscious adjustments are made for the collective – set us free instead? As a participant of this interactive debate, how would you shape your views towards this matter?
Join us with the Fire Pit Debate to set a renewed focus on our New Year’s resolutions, in which we strive to feel connected as a collective within our Earth System.
