HOW TO HOPE TO BE
Country
The Netherlands
‘HOW to hope to be’ is a canopy made entirely from bio-bricks. Grown from mycelium and household waste, it offers a eco-friendly building material within the hands of a regular household. Designer Catinca Tilea explored what it would be like if everybody could build with organic waste. What makes this project special is that the bio-bricks are grown with the help of people – such as the visitors of DDW 2023 – making it a collaborative effort. This social project considers different ways in which our relationship with nature could change, and it demonstrates how biotechnology and community action can work together to build more resilient societies for the future.
