‘A Contribution to BioDesign’ showcases handmade designs that are both organic and biodegradable. Geertje creates sustainable sheet materials and small furniture using 100% natural, biodegradable resources and through experimentation with handcrafted techniques, the bio-composite material looks almost stone-like. She uses an unique process—cold pressing by hand without the use of electricity—that combines centuries-old knowledge with scientific advancements, inspired by the way materials form in nature. Her work demonstrates how nature can offer us everything we need to build a more sustainable future.
