Project
Jiui (枝椅) – Branch Chair
Country
South Korea
The Branch Chair embodies the Symbiocene ethos by creating a shared space for humans and animals, specifically chickens, to coexist. This chair-like furniture with seats for both human and nonhuman challenges traditional views of chickens as merely livestock or pets, instead recognizing them as beings that share our space.
Designed for flexibility, the Branch Chair invites unique interpretations and use, aiming to break down social and species boundaries. By fostering interaction between humans and chickens, Seojun promotes a new attitude towards coexistence, rooted in the principles of the Symbiocene era—balanced resource use, natural materials, and circular thinking.
