Jules Péan presents two artworks that invites rethinking of materiality. In his work ‘Potatoes’, humble potatoes are turned into a suspended biomaterial chandelier sculpture. Inflated potato starch bubbles hang delicately from recycled copper tubes, forming a compact, root-like organic network. This chandelier evokes a small immersive landscape while offering a tactile and visual experience. Elevating overlooked materials and valorizing the simple, celebrating material innovation, and the subtle beauty hidden in the everyday.
New Rocks’ explores hybrid biomaterials through geological processes. Locally sourced Luxembourg residues like sediments, mining and construction waste are hand-shaped with natural binders. These modular, biodegradable “new stones” become collectible design objects (consoles, side tables), layered and textured, inspired by natural rock formations. The project transforms discarded materials into resources, reconnecting them with nature.
