Siyu Li’s ‘Welcome to the Living Room’ is a participatory food installation and social encounter that invites visitors to enter a space where all living beings—human and more-than-human—are welcomed as guests. Reimagining the “living room” as shared ecological commons, this space offers hospitality not only to people, but also to memories, vernacular knowledge, and edible roots. Through making and eating sticky rice balls with roots—where sticky rice acts as an ancient bioglue—visitors explore how food binds bodies, memories, and cultures together, both physically and symbolically.
