Kimono Roots – Wearing Earth And Time

Country

Italy

“When did you last wear something irreplaceable?”. Kimono Roots is a wearable architecture grown from roots and stitched with sashiko, embodying care, time, and slowness. Over six months, the roots transformed into a living, tactile fiber, creating a garment that resists the speed and disposability of fast fashion. Visitors will encounter the kimono as a suspended, living presence: raw, fragile, and tactile. They are invited to witness its texture, its slowness, and to feel, even on their own skin the time and care it embodies.

Creating Kimono Roots is not simply about producing a garment, it is about rethinking what a garment is. Moving from consumption to cultivation, from product to presence.
This is not just “sustainable fashion.” It is a meditation on what it means to give form to care, to patience, to presence in the world.
