My Dear Sweet is a collection of fragile sugar vessels, suspended between object, artifact, and edible sculpture. Through blown, pulled, and slumped sugar, Maëlys Venkiah explores fragility, failure, and transformation. Each piece reveals sugar’s contradictions, seductive yet repulsive, precious yet ephemeral, while confronting its colonial legacy and the tension between beauty and decay.

Into Your Skin explores silent heritages of modesty and misunderstanding within the artist’s family. Through dialogue with her mother and grandmother, two curtains become tactile portraits woven with images, texts, and molded objects. When zipped and buttoned together, they transform into a garment, a second skin that the artist wear to honour and embody their life and memories.
