Illuminated Overgrowth

Duckweed forms dense mats in local waterways, blocking sunlight and disrupting aquatic ecosystems. Illuminated Overgrowth harvests this abundant biomass from Nuenen’s canals, transforming it into biocomposite lamps. By altering biomass concentration, each lamp’s distinct opacity physically mimics natural light blockage, turning an environmental challenge into a sustainable lighting solution.
