The ReGreen Hut

This project explores whether mycelium grown on hemp waste can serve as a building material that supports plant growth. The ReGreen Hut is a living lab for testing new materials, and at the same time a small shelter where people and nature meet.

This project was carried out as the Major Innovation Project of the Master’s Bio Inspired Innovation at Utrecht University. UU’s Campus & Facilities and Centre for Living Labs Utrecht University were our case owners. The original design of The ReGreen Hut was developed during the Sustainable City Challenge Utrecht 2023. This project built on that by applying of mycelium composites. The geodesic dome was realised in collaboration with Hogeschool Utrecht, Level 5, Het Huis Dat Leeft, and VCOA.
