Janneke explores what happens when people, plants and design meet. Her practice reflects on how digital life can distance us from nature, inviting us to reconnect with the instinctive ways we once understood the natural world. FLORASOMA invites us to rediscover an ancient language of plants — where a thorn signals pain, a seed pod offers protection, and every form carries a message. The work asks us to look closely and wonder: will you recognise these connections?
Part of Reclaimed Botanical Art: A language of the first generation botanical artists. A collective of 5 artists who are rediscovering botanical art. Traditionally rooted in the interplay between science and aesthetics, botanical art has long documented and celebrated plant life, In their research and design, they approach the plant as a source, teacher, and companion, responding to ecological, societal, and cultural circumstances.
