ACTIVITIES
In the midst of a green realm in Strijp, Eindhoven; lies our BioArt Village. We are located in a beautiful military bunker complex build by the German army during the Second World War. At this site, we are realising a self-supporting location, applying a circular approach to all of our resources and waste materials. Our BioArt Village is a crossover hotspot where science, arts and nature meet: there is a fully functional hybrid laboratory, numerous ateliers and nature is right outside the door.
As a volunteer at BioArt Laboratories you will have the opportunity to:
– Gain experience with off-grid and sustainable thinking
– Work with farm animals (Horses, sheep, cows and chickens)
– Contribute to the maintenance of the forest area and the buildings
– Solve problems, design and implement new systems
PRACTICALITIES
A participant can stay at BioArt Village for a maximum of six months. The participants will be given accommodation within one of the refurbished military bunkers, with private room and a common workspace area. The participant will have access to showering and laundry facilities. We have shared bikes available for the participants.
ESC program covers transport, insurance, and a monthly allowance; food and accommodation. Holidays can be organised based on the needs of each participant during their stay.
WHO CAN APPLY?
– The volunteer is someone who has inherent interest in subjects of the project, such as sustainability and new system changes for a circular economy through, for example, aquaponics.
– The volunteer is eager to learn and explore new possibilities with a go-getter mentality and proactive attitude.
– The volunteer wants to make a meaningful contribution to society and thereby endorse core values such as solidarity, cooperation and mutual understanding and respect.
– BioArt Village is located in a nature-rich environment with offgrid facilities. While the place is in close proximity of the city centre, the atmosphere is close to a rural, peaceful place abundant with nature. As such, the volunteer needs to have affinity with nature and the rural environment.
