Waiting for the Waste is a series centered on the theme of “waiting,” using epoxy resin to encapsulate biodegradable materials as a way of recording the passage of time in biological experiments. When given a closer look, the various discarded materials mesh with the unique combination of transparent three-dimensional shapes and light, giving us a reflection on both material transformation and the temporality inherent in scientific processes.
The series consists of four parts, created with varying levels of technical refinement: “Brick,” “Kandinsky,” “Live Bar,” and “Fluorescence.” Among these, the Live Bar series is composed of twenty pieces that were collectively produced during a participatory bio-art experience, where audiences became co-creators of the work. Through this layering of material, time, and collaboration, Waiting for the Waste bridges scientific experimentation and artistic expression, transforming ephemeral biological activity into enduring artistic artifacts.
