Arim Seo’s Massage Spa for Cows focuses on the cow’s body—not as a tool for production, but as a sensing, feeling being. The project offers cows physical and emotional relief through an object they can rub and scratch against, enriching their daily routines with tactile stimulation and moments of comfort. The form and material are developed through research into how cows experience pressure, texture, and friction, while the layered texture of a pinecone serves as the primary source of inspiration. Rather than directing the animal, the object responds to its movements, encouraging calm, curiosity, and play. The object becomes a space where cows can reduce stress and engage with their environment on their own terms. In this way, the project imagines a more empathetic approach to designing with animals, where care emerges not through control, but through shared rhythms and coexistence.
