Arthur van der Werf, an Industrial Design talent, is a motivated and chaotic person, developing his identity. “I want to use design to communicate social studies to the people. Through experiences in crossovers between art and technology, I want people to think about their position in the world and how they are related to their surroundings. I quickly see relations and how they build up a network. In my designs you will experience these relations and get a sense of the impact of any interference.”
Arthur presented his project Biograph at our Dutch Design Week exposition Chilling in a Box. Biograph is a project that takes into account the importance of printing. Digital photography is very useful but we seem to loose the last steps towards a physical print. These steps are very important for the process of photography to get an image across. After experimenting with analog photography, Arthur tried to take the creation of an image to a new level. By using bio organisms that grow according to light he created living images in a modern darkroom.
