BAD Special weekend Workshops

The BAD Special Weekend took place on 24 and 25 March, hosting several workshops, films and lectures in conjunction with the ‘Beyond Borders & Binaries’ exhibition.

Three workshops were held at MU on Saturday afternoon between 13:00 and 17:00. The Nonhuman Nonsense collective presented ‘MUD & FLOOD ~ The Return of Nehalennia’. Kasia Molga offered the workshop ‘How to Make an Ocean’. Marlot Meyer, Marcel de Jeu and Arran Lyon were responsible for ‘Hacking Heuristics’. All three workshops were related to installations combining artificial intelligence with emotional, religious-mythological and communicative elements. Through accessible, interactive workshops, everyone could immerse themselves in the artists’ works and research.

Marlot Meyer and AI developer Aran Lyon went deeper into the retrieved and combined data – collected during the Hacking Heuristics exhibition by their specially designed AI – and what lessons were drawn from it.

The ‘MUD & FLOOD’ workshop was led by Filips Stanislavskis and Leo Fidjeland, where they led a guided meditation focusing on post-human thinking and opening up to the non-human.

Kasia Molga taught a small group how to make their own mini-ocean from their tears. This also involved an AI; as a moirologist, it collected all the news on climate change to give the audience the opportunity to express their grief over the slow dying of the earth.
