Delving into the Dutch earth
Country
The Netherlands
“How can local earth tell the story of the Dutch landscape?” CHRITH architects and Studio Stephan Schagen explore this in ‘Delving into the Dutch Earth.’ Using wind-dried compressed earth blocks, each unique and infused with plant-based structures, they craft a series of soil portraits. Their work, rooted in circular and ecological design, draws inspiration from rural Uzbekistan’s sustainable building practices, where materials are both sourced from and returned to the land. This project reflects their pursuit of a harmonious balance between architecture, materials, and landscape.
