In the previous Crosslabs, the students from the International School Eindhoven have worked hands-on with creating their own bioplastics. Now, they embark on a journey to enhance their skills in identifying and evaluating various other additives based on their effects on material properties. They began by hypothesizing and reflecting on how their bioplastic have turned out, then tested their predictions and discussed why certain additives will work or won’t. This process not only helped them understand the link between material choice and sustainability but also inspired them to think critically about waste reduction, energy efficiency, and environmental impact. By the end, they have evaluated alternative additives, proposed improvements to their own bioplastic, and explore ideas for eco-friendly product design, all while considering if the materials they used were truly sustainable.
