Are products really as sustainable as they claim? In this session, students investigate products that promote eco-friendly labels, often discovering that these claims fall short. Using principles of the Symbiocene, they explore ways to adjust production processes for genuine “sumbiofacts”— fabricated by human/nature interaction, as distinct from ‘artefact’, an object made by a human being. With practical examples in mind, students dive into designing their own products. The challenge: use only natural materials and justify their choices, focusing on true sustainability. At the end, they present their ideas, receiving feedback and insights from the team.
