“How can a hummingbird’s tongue contribute to global health challenges?” Maciej Głowacki’s ‘CRN_01 ‘Hummingbird’ swabs’ is a creative response to the Covid-19 pandemic’s demand for diagnostic tests. Inspired by the hummingbird’s tongue, the design of these swabs is cost-effective, ecologically friendly, and efficient for mass production during crises. Głowacki, with his background in physics and chemistry, applies an analytical approach to design, focusing on solutions beyond market value, addressing genuine needs in both human and non-human realms. His work exemplifies design as a tool for critical healthcare solutions.
