Marc’s projects highlight the biomimicry methodology, urging us to look at nature with wonder and curiosity, and explore a world where humans and nature coexist more harmoniously.
In ‘Fold’, Marc draws inspiration from the structure of the great teasel plant, whose bracts (spines) are beautifully folded and strong, designed for specific functions in nature. This folding technique forms the basis of his design, reflecting the natural stiffness and strength of the teasel.
In ‘Found Shapes’, Marc explores the growing world of climbing by transforming natural forms into climbing holds. By using 3D scanning, shapes found in the bark of the Persimmon tree are scaled from micro to macro, creating new and meaningful climbing grips. These designs open a dialogue about the future of climbing and the relationship between nature and sports.
