“How can biomaterials be used to create unique musical experiences?” With the ‘Boviphone and Aqualentiphone’, Remco de Kluizenaar’s, a Dutch sound artist, uses his work to comment humorously yet urgently on anthropogenic problems, aiming to reconnect with nature and highlight its intricate beauty and interconnectedness. The first instrument, made from Bois Durci, a bioplastic derived from cow’s blood, contrasts with its plant-based counterpart built from duckweed. These innovative instruments, developed as an audible analogy to the ‘protein transition’ in food, allow users to experience the difference in sound and material.
