Our world is changing at an ever increasing pace and new (bio)technologies, materials and innovations emerge on almost a daily basis. In this evolving landschape the fields of science and art grow more interconnected as scientific processes and theories inspire the arts and vice versa. Bridging the gap between these disciplines presents new research opportunities, allows us to address societal and environmental issues in a profoundly different manner or even create entirely new perspectives of the world we live in.
The 2015 Talent Pressure Cooker, Chilling in a Box, was a total experience that stimulated all of our senses and every vein in our body for a complete, organic and fresh experience. At the same time, the Chilling-element symbolized serenity and finding comfort. There was special attention to food, design and technology concepts that challenged sensory perception.
For our Open Call in 2015 we invited top talents to submit proposals looking at what sensory perception can mean in the crossover between science and art. For their proposals, we stimulated talents to explore the possibilities at the crossover of food, (bio)technology and design. Together we searched for the utmost limits of our senses, reimagined their definition and inspired the discussion about societal and ethical issues with their work.
We offered participants training & guidance in life sciences and laboratory practice as well as access to our facilities in our hybrid laboratory and the unique chance to exhibit their work at a prominent location during the Dutch Design Week from the 17th – 25th of October 2015.
Meet our talents here!
