HOW TO HOPE TO BECOME A FOREST
Country
Netherlands
Between 2023 and 2024, Catinca and 70 other visitors of BioArt Village has built a mycelium based sculpture made from household organic waste. During 2025, she recorded the degradation of this outdoors artwork that would become the film HOW TO HOPE TO BECOME A FOREST, showing the slow biodegradation of the biobased sculpture throughout a timelapse and becoming part of the forest once again. Its a study in decay seen from the lens of hope and with a great sense of wonder towards transformations in the natural world. Catinca reflects on what temporary or permanence may mean to nature and to us, and how they could become part of our regenerative futures.
