Mathias Anger

In his work, Mathias Anger combines matter and nature. He seeks to make the world more sustainable by modifying or creating all kinds of materials, in order to benefit from all their properties. Supporter of a circular economy, the materials and tools he uses in his artistic process are always obtained from his immediate environment. During the Talent Pressure Cooker, Mathias is looking at how to create a sustainable polymer by using a material created naturally by human beings. Concerned about our ecosystems, his creative process highlights the dangers of over-consumption and interrogates the idea of time and labor required for human production.

Human sweat is about 99% water and 1% lactic acid. This acid, also present in cabbages and some dairy products, is the main ingredient of the polylactical acid (PLA), a bio-sourced polymer. At a time when the question of resources becomes central, we should ask ourselves about our consumption. At what cost can we drain our fossil resources? Shouldn’t our production require some effort? Sweat With Me offers an innovative answer: create a sustainable material using your own sweat.
