Tim de Gier

In his artistic process Tim de Gier works both with physical and digital media. By rearranging things he is often intending to create a new logic in specific parts of the world around him. This also often involves softening the border between the physical and the virtual world. In addition to traditional and technological components, during the Talent Pressure Cooker Tim is also looking at how adding natural components can enhance his work. Fascinated by concepts as time and automation, Tim aims to visualize the relation of these phenomena to our social and natural environment by using living material.

During the Talent Pressure Cooker of 2018 Tim de Gier focused on two things that are new to his artistic process: 3D-printing and living materials. In his work Remain and Remind a skin-like layer of kombucha dissolved over time, representing the carnality of humanity. White plastic sculptures remain and remind us of times gone by, as many other white sculptures did throughout history.
