Firepit debate Living Materials

BioArt Laboratories recently organized a Firepit debate on Living Material with Laurens Landeweerd. The discussion is centered on the intersection of science and biology, specifically microbiology and genetic modification.

Through the House of Commons debate structure, participants and students from the International School Eindhoven discussed various topics such as genetic modification, engineering living materials, and the ethical implications of creating human organs in the lab. The participants’ opinions varied on issues such as using stem cells for bio-robots, treating mini-brains, creating human organs in the lab, cultivating meat, and producing fur and wool in bioreactors. The discussions included topics such as animal suffering, sustainability, and the ethical considerations of these advancements in science and technology.
